Abstract:
Good design is a highly complex synthesis of intersecting domains of the beautiful – the art of quality and the true – the science of quantifiable. How do we take these domains into consideration when creating something that is beautiful, functional, and above all useful? Come hear how two design researchers at Shopify, Dylan Blanchard and Alëna Iouguina, approach this problem and hear some case studies that highlight the difficulties in carefully balancing the domains of art and science.
