Presentation Synopsis:

Heteros have Tinder, gays have Grindr, and now libertines have LeeLoo. Leeloo is a location-based mobile application that helps libertine individuals (or couples) find “matches”. Pascal de Grandpré co-founded the startup Leeloo with his partner Brian Couchman. Pascal began by conducting a detailed in-depth study to collect data of the libertine community and analyse it. His goal was to deeply
understand the reality of his end-users. Leeloo was then designed and developed using a user-centered approach. New functionality was designed and tested in collaboration with a group of ambassadors from the libertine community. This approach allowed Pascal and Brian to create the first version of Leeloo, which they consider to be a minimum viable product (MVP). LeeLoo has been (and is still) a wonderful LEAN startup laboratory that continuously tests new concepts and assumptions in collaboration with a dynamic and mutating community of end users. Come to satisfy your curiosity about a unique design space. Learn about user research, continuous user-centered design, and lean UX in the process.

Speaker bio:

Pascal is a partner at Ordi-Folie, a company that acts as “Virtual CTO” for its clients. They’ve created designs, mobile applications, web sites and software for IBM, Bouygues Telecom, a number of Canadian hospitals, and organizations in the manufacturing/distribution industry and the artist production industry. As a digital nomad, Pascal remotely manages his company while finding inspiration in discovering the planet with his wife and dog “Gypsy”. His company only employs like-minded fellow travelers as the team meets by video conference and works no more than 20 hours/week. He has designed traveler vans in Australia, taught IT to Canadian immigrants, collected plastic waste while off-road- tripping around the Americas in his 4×4 vehicle, renovated a shack while paragliding in the French Alps, guided divers under water in the Philippines, climbed to the Mont Blanc and Everest base camp, and guided hikers in the Canadian Rockies.
