Data-Inspired Design

This month CapCHI examines data modeling as a foundation for elegant user experiences. In doing so, the session also examines some of the changing dynamics of user-facing data in emerging technologies such as Natural Language Processing, Chatbots, and Blockchain.

DATE AND TIME: Tue, October 16, 2018, 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM EDT.

LOCATION: The Clubhouse – Mulligan’s Golf Bar, 201 Queen Street, 3rd Floor, Ottawa, ON K1P 5C9.

REGISTRATION: (Free!) We request that you pre-register via Eventbrite, but it is not required to attend… https://www.eventbrite.com/e/data-inspired-design-with-anton-mcconville-tickets-50752422863

Anton McConville will tell us three stories, reviewing three projects, to explore the bond between data models and cohesive UX design. The first project experiments with Natural Language Processing to explore how a song writer’s personality changed over time. The second project imagines human conversation as the business asset of the future, with a proof of concept insurance chatbot. The third project questions the value we place on our personal data, by creating a wellness app running on a blockchain.

In each of the projects, Anton will dissect the path of the data from database to interface, reflecting on the relationship between creative methods, and an engineering approach to UX design.
