Abstract:
Wonder why so many software products/projects fail? Want to do something to increase your success rate? This presentation focuses on applying appropriate user research to your product development process and highlights the benefits that are realized by involving your users.
Bio:

Ms. Lorraine Chapman is a highly skilled project manager and research specialist with over 14 years experience in the high-technology sector. She has experience in product development companies in a series of positions with increasing responsibility, including; product manager, usability researcher, and technical writer. Her breadth of hands-on experience in product development enables her to work with clients to quickly bring to the surface key issues. Lorraine’s customer-focused attitude and responsiveness to client needs results in excellence ratings in feedback from our client satisfaction surveys.
Ms. Chapman has provided a broad range of clients with qualitative and quantitative research and strategic direction on product and customer issues. This experience includes research and usability analysis of websites, services (eCommerce and eBusiness), applications, software, hardware and documentation. In her role as a researcher, she has successfully coordinated and led interviews and usability tests with users of telecommunication products in North America and Europe. She has a proven ability in translating research into project recommendations and product requirements that are focused on delivering customer satisfaction.
Lorraine is a proficient communicator – whether delivering a formal report, facilitating a group to achieve a specific outcome or in a one on one interaction with a client or users seeking to get at the heart of the problem at hand. Lorraine also is an occasional guest lecturer at Carleton University and has extensive experience teaching Macadamian’s certification program courses.

This event will take place on May 19, 7-9 pm at TheCodeFactory, located at 246 Queen Street, between Bank and Kent, (on the second floor) above the Green Papaya Restaurant.
Note: there is no cost for attending this event and prior registration is not required. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. An informal social gathering will follow at a nearby pub.
