Title: Cultures in Games and Games in Cultures
Abstract: Much has been made of the cultures surrounding video game play, but less work has examined the nature of the cultures within them, or of games as cultures. In our doctoral work, we investigated this idea from two perspectives: illuminating the culture present in popular games, and developing design strategies to build real world cultures into games. In this presentation, we offer a brief look at the results.
