The Registrar Division of Momentous.ca is seeking a motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic Quality Assurance Specialist to join and lead the quality assurance efforts of its development team. A grasp of testing methodologies and technical background is required for this position. This person will report to the Development Manager of the Registrar Group and ideally will have experience in a Web based eCommerce environment and experience implementing automation tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead Quality Assurance testing methodologies
  • Write test plans and test cases, manage and engage in testing activities
  • Create and execute functional, performance and stress tests
  • Automate applicable regression tests
  • Research and implement automated testing tools
  • Continually search out new technologies and processes to improve QA functions
  • Work with internal departments to help define and refine product requirements, and then take these requirements through to implementation.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in all areas outlined in the responsibilities listed above
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles; Understanding of basic design document structure and data flow diagrams; knowledge of UML an asset
  • Experience testing web applications written using Microsoft .Net Visual Studio, particularly ASP.NET; experience with ASP.NET 2005, NUnit, and ANTS Load an asset
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively work with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Visio
  • Microsoft Visual Source Safe, and other desktop processing tools
  • Knowledge of database programming, particularly using MS SQL Server considered an asset
  • Ability to remain aware of long-term goals while producing immediate solutions
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and planning skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Motivated, energetic, and inventive self-starter
  • Tenacious, uncompromising, and thorough about testing
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work effectively both within a team and independently in a high-demand, short deadline environment
  • The ability to think abstractly and work in a technically complex and ambiguous environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Certificate in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of professional quality assurance experience, preferably testing e-commerce software
