<p>PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES</p>
<p>We are looking for a Senior Level Interaction designer to help us build better user experiences for IT administrators responsible for Business Intelligence. You will be in charge of collecting and understanding user interaction patterns, requirements, users and their needs. With this knowledge you will create mockups, prototypes and guidelines in cooperation with other members of the Development Team for the Business Intelligence Platform. In addition, mockup and prototype designs will need to be validated with users and customers.</p>

All users, from the high-end analyst to the casual business user, have access to the information they need -with minimal dependence on IT resources and developers. <p>EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS</p>
<ul>
<li>Work closely with Solution and Product Management to interview and understand users</li>
<li>Draft up user personas, goals, and scenarios</li>
<li>Research and conduct heuristic analysis on existing and competitive products</li>
<li>Define high level interaction, navigation models and task flows</li>
<li>Design wire frames and iterate prototypes from low to high fidelity</li>
<li>Conduct formative testing on evolving prototypes</li>
<li>Collaborate with Program/Product Management to produce detailed UI specifications</li>
<li>Supervise development colleagues to ensure designs are implemented as specified</li>
<li>Coordinate summative testing with 3rd party vendors</li>

<p>WORK EXPERIENCE</p>

<li>5+ years of Interaction Design experience for web and/or thick client applications</li>
<li>Experience doing interaction designs for software tools used by IT administrators</li>

<li>Experience      interacting with internal departments to help define and refine product      requirements, and then take these requirements through to implementation;</li>

<li>Experience      unit testing would be an asset;</li>

<p>Working with the Zip.ca Development Team, the candidate will focus on developing and deploying both automated and manual test plans to improve the quality and reliability of Zip.ca and related services.</p>
<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>

<li>Design, document, develop and deploy new test plans / test cases for web applications written in ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server</li>
<li>Automate new and existing test scenarios.</li>
<li>Help maintain and enhance the existing technology in partnership with the Development team</li>
<li>Ensure that functionality of the site and related technology accurately meet the technical, end user and marketing requirements</li>
<li>Provide support to the internal business staff or external client on the functionality of the site and related technology</li>
<li>Guide the Development team in improving the usability &amp; reliability of the site and related technology</li>
<li>Be and internal advocate for quality across all dimensions</li>

<p>Experience, Knowledge and skills:</p>
<ul>
<li>Dedication to improving the User Experience</li>
<li>Ability to develop a test plan, from defined requirements where available, that includes unit testing, integration testing and performance testing</li>
<li>Experience with Borland Silk Test is highly desirable</li>
<li>Experience with C# and /or VB.NET as well as ASP.NET based testing tools such as NUnit and WatiN are considered an asset</li>
<li>Strong SQL Server experience</li>
<li>Ability to automate test scenarios</li>
<li>Ability to write unit tests an asset</li>
<li>Ability to efficiently and effectively work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.</li>
<li>Understanding of basic design document structure and data flow diagrams, knowledge of UML an asset</li>
<li>Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and planning skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines</li>
<li>Motivated, energetic, and inventive self-starter</li>
<li>Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal</li>
<li>Must be able to work effectively both within a team and independently in a high-demand, short deadline environment</li>
<li>Ability to think abstractly and work in a technically complex and ambiguous environment</li>

<p>Education and Training:</p>

<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree, Certificate in Computer Science or equivalent experience.</li>

<p>Our users vary widely. <a href="http://www.grammatech.com/products/codesonar/overview.html">CodeSonar</a> and <a href="http://www.grammatech.com/products/codesurfer/overview.html">CodeSurfer</a> are commercially available worldwide and are used by thousands of software engineers and security experts. On the other hand, some of our software is produced under contract and used only by a single group of highly trained computer scientists. User interface requirements vary accordingly; there will always be something interesting to work on.</p>
<p>This is a full time, salaried position with medical benefits, vacation, holidays, and a true forty hour week.</p>
<h3>Minimum Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Education: BS Computer Science + 3 years <strong>or </strong>MS Computer Science + 1 year. Candidates with PhDs or additional experience are encouraged to apply. Salary and responsibilities will be commensurate with level of education and experience.</li>
<li>UI design training and/or significant experience designing high-quality user interfaces</li>
<li>Proficiency in JavaScript <strong>and </strong>Python <strong>and </strong>C/C++</li>
<li>HTML/XHTML markup, styling, and templating</li>
<li><strong>US citizenship</strong>. Security clearance or the ability to get clearance is a plus.</li>
</ul>
